Singapore is an easy city to enter when your documents and arrival details are in order. This is a planning guide, not immigration advice or a promise of admission: border requirements, assessment and visa decisions belong to Singapore authorities.

Check your passport and status first

Use ICA’s current visitor information to see whether your nationality requires a visa, whether your passport meets the validity rules, and whether additional documents are requested. A visa, where required, is not the same as permission to enter.

  • Check the passport validity and blank-page requirements on the official ICA page
  • Confirm whether your passport needs a visa and use only the current application route
  • Carry evidence of onward travel, accommodation and funds if requested
  • Keep a digital and paper copy of your passport and travel insurance

Travellers should answer forms truthfully and consistently. Airlines may check documentation before boarding, while the final decision at the checkpoint remains with ICA.

Submit the SG Arrival Card

Most visitors must submit the free SG Arrival Card with Electronic Health Declaration within the permitted window before arrival. Use the ICA e-Service or official MyICA app; avoid agents charging for a free government submission.

Enter your passport number, flight or travel details, Singapore address and health declaration carefully. Save the acknowledgement, but remember it is an arrival declaration rather than a visa or guarantee of entry.

Know the customs lane

Declare controlled, prohibited or dutiable goods and follow the signs at the Red and Green Channels. When uncertain, ask an officer rather than guessing. Singapore Customs rules cover tobacco, alcohol, medicines, food, currency and commercial quantities, and allowances can change.

  • Keep prescriptions, original packaging and a doctor’s letter for personal medicines
  • Do not carry another person’s parcel without knowing its contents
  • Check rules for vape devices, tobacco, alcohol and food before packing
  • Declare goods when the official guidance says declaration is required

At the checkpoint

Have your passport, arrival acknowledgement and accommodation details accessible. Answer questions briefly and politely, collect your bags, and check that you have not left documents at immigration, customs or the taxi stand.

Verify every requirement close to departure through ICA and Singapore Customs. Airline, nationality and health circumstances can affect what applies to an individual traveller.
